Joel L. Cohen, MD
Joel L. Cohen, MD is an internationally recognized expert on skin cancer and aesthetics. He is the Director of AboutSkin Dermatology and DermSurgery. He was named a Top Dermatologist by US News and World Report, Castle Connelly Regional Top Doctor (2013-2020), and voted by his peers as one of Denver’s Top Doctors in 5280 magazine NINE times. He is a Board-Certified Dermatologist, Fellowship-trained in Mohs Surgery, Lasers, and Cosmetic Dermatology. Dr. Cohen lectures regularly at both national and international meetings and participates in many clinical trials. Dr. Cohen was elected to serve as a national instructor in dermatologic surgical and aesthetic procedures by the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) as well as the American Society of Lasers in Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS). He serves on the teaching faculty of the department of Dermatology University of California Irvine as an Associate Professor and is a fellowship co-director for the ASDS Dermatologic Surgery Colorado Fellowship. In 2018, he received the Melanoma Research Foundation Humanitarian of the year award. He has also been a recipient of the ASDS Public Service Award, the ASCDAS Distinguished Service Award, the ASDS Traveling Mentorship & Teaching Award, and the ASDS Excellence in Education Award. He has been the recipient of the Patients Choice Award from 2010-2019.
Dr. Cohen has published over 258 medical articles and book chapters. He has co-authored 3 academic textbooks: Regional Rejuvenation (McGraw-Hill), Reconstructive Conundrums in Dermatologic Surgery (Wiley-Blackwell) and Botulinum Toxins Cosmetic and Clinical Applications (Wiley-Blackwell). He has been quoted in many newspapers & magazines including TIME, Glamour, Allure, The New York Times (x3), Redbook, Shape, USA Today, US News & World Report, Marie Claire, Vogue, Cooking Light, In Style, BuzzFeed, MSN.com, ABC.com, New Beauty, Condé Nast, Men’s Health, Huffington Post, The International Business Times, SELF, Consumer Reports (x6), Women’s Health and MORE Magazine. He regularly appears on Denver TV stations (with over 75 appearances discussing aesthetic issues, dermatology, and skin cancer), and is a frequent guest on SiriusXM Doctor Radio.
